Hello and Amen,

loved hearing your ponderings! Yes, our heart needs to be on seeing our lives as nothing and depend on Him for everything. I loved the verses you referred to.

I pray you are doing well and resting in much grace.

Happy Birthday,

@Michelle - Thanks! And amen!! Externals are much easier to measure, which is why I think we are drawn to them. But it's the heart the Lord is after...

@Tonja - I love what you said about the growth and transformation not being for you to see. If we are faithful in our lives, we may plant seeds, we may water them, or till the soil...and when God is gracious we get to bring in the harvest! But regardless of which of those tasks we have been assigned in a person's life, our faithfulness to that task is what He looking for. I pray the Lord will strengthen and bless you as you pour into their lives. :)

Michelle, this post had really good timing for me and is something I've been thinking about lately. Can I add a comment? I'm writing as someone who is not in full time ministry. I am a "lay leader" (with a seminary education, but that is beside the point) and lead a small group/women's bible study. I've often thought about how successful I am as a leader and what it boils down to for me is one question: Have I been faithful in my relationship to God, and have I conveyed that faithfulness and God's truth to others? I often struggle with not readily seeing growth/transformation in my small group members, especially those that I've been leading for 3-4 years. I've come to terms with the fact that it may not be for me to see - growth and transformation are between them and God. But I can allow them to see MY transformation and in doing so I am allowing them to see God work in my life and hopefully that can translate to them wanting transformation in their lives. Anyway, thank you for thinking about this and writing about it.

Great post, Michelle!

We are quick to read external packaging as a sign of spiritual blessing, but as you pointed out so accurately, our zip code, stuff, position and fan club are not necessarily signs of our surrender to God.

Now this is wisdom that she be given to anyone who desires to be marries, is thinking about marriage in the future, or has no clue about marriage. If we approached the covenant agreement of marriage scripturally like we should, this would not sound strange to us! Thank you Tiffany and Najah for speaking truth!
